The as-yet unnamed micro brewery and tap room would look pretty good here [1] don’t you think? Deliveries could be a bitch as there’s no dock but I like the look of the building a lot. There’s even an apartment on the second floor.

Kind of goes without saying: You can’t do that. [1]
There must be something in “your dad’s beer” that isn’t in the beer I would normally drink. I was about as useful as a wet towel yesterday. On the other hand, I went from the last third of season four all the way to the first two episodes of season six in my Breaking Bad addiction.
It’s hockey time in Ralston tonight! A double dose of live hockey this weekend. Not sure how I’m going to make it through the next seven hours at work.
Levity in the eye of the hurricane. These are my people. [1]
Companies advertising specials for folks being affected by the shutdown of the federal government rub me the wrong way. Giving away free crap, well, I suppose I’m not as irritated by that kind of thing. It still reeks of taking advantage of tragedy for a little self-promotion but I can see how it might be an even trade.
The thing I’m really starting to get irritated about however is this phenomena of “half off tickets to $FOO for folks with IDs proving they’re affected” advertising. To me that reads as, “Hey, you. Experiencing hard times, right? How about stupidly spending some of your dwindling capital on some cheap entertainment? Well, come right this way…”
This isn’t a party. It isn’t a marketing opportunity. It’s a tragedy being foisted on us by a group of people who are trying to take legislative shortcuts because they lack the popular support to do things the right way. And crap is about to get a lot more serious in the coming week. No one thinks that Congress will force us into default but no one thought Congress would shut down federal operations either.
Art Bell has resurrected his radio [1] show for Sirius. On channel 104 you can find Dark Matter [2] Monday nights from 2200 – 0200 EDT. It’s also rebroadcast weeknights from 0200 – 0600 EDT.
I predict a few late night road trips in Happy in my future.

I freaking love that the folks at Grantland [1] embed the hell out of some links in their articles. Sean McIndoe‘s [2] hockey writing there is just so much richer for it. For example, in his latest article in re 10 greatest single team players [3] he links to several Mario Lemieux videos.
Including this crazy goal [4]. It’s almost enough to turn me into a Pens fan, that.
Almost.
