All ready for the teddy bear toss tonight.

Fargo Farce
How pumped up am I for live hockey tonight? I watched the season home opener against Fargo on On Demand already this morning. Here’s to another shut out win against the Farce tonight.
Slap shot
All bad. You do that, you go to the box, you know. Two minutes by yourself, and you feel shame, you know.
In a movie full of great dialog, this may be the most overlooked quote of all.
Longing
There’s no Lancers game to attend tonight? Certainly feels like there should be.
How the hell I get through the offseason is beyond me.
Cheater!
Kind of goes without saying: You can’t do that. [1]
Stoked
It’s hockey time in Ralston tonight! A double dose of live hockey this weekend. Not sure how I’m going to make it through the next seven hours at work.
Almost enough
I freaking love that the folks at Grantland [1] embed the hell out of some links in their articles. Sean McIndoe‘s [2] hockey writing there is just so much richer for it. For example, in his latest article in re 10 greatest single team players [3] he links to several Mario Lemieux videos.
Including this crazy goal [4]. It’s almost enough to turn me into a Pens fan, that.
Almost.

Opening Day
Happy Hockey Day everybody! My two favorite teams open their seasons at home tonight. Go Lancers! Go Stars!
It’s almost hoodie/jersey time
The USHL teams released their final rosters/protected lists[1] today! Time to start working on the game face and stretch out the vocal cords. Seriously ready for some puck.
Surprises to me so far
- The Stars stand pat with an exceptionally inexperienced crew of forwards. Number of goals scored last year by returning Stars forwards this season: 0.
- On the other hand the Stars could have one of the most dominant blue lines around. Lots of size (except for Willett), lots of speed, and a couple of heavy slapshots.
- The Lancers have a billion returning starters this year and have to be a favorite to take the West
- Last year a Lancer, this year a Star: Dominic Sacco
- Wilson Vershay stays with the Stars instead of opting for the OHL where he was drafted
- Gersich didn’t make the Lancers roster–he’s still an affiliate. Absolutely loved the spark he brought at the end of last season to a team otherwise intent on navel gazing
- Nash Warden is a forward this year (at least to start the season). Fun to watch wherever he lines up.
The only home exhibition game is tomorrow night at Tranquility. Going to try to make that!
Gentlemen, start your engines
Just entered the 2013-14 Lancers schedule on my calendar. Very freaking ready for puck drop in just over two weeks.
