Obamanation

I finally voted for a major party candidate for President. A first.

Celebrations last night and today. I’ll really let loose if NE-2 puts an electoral vote in Obama’s column. I cannae believe Indiana went Obama too. This is real dogs and cats living together stuff here.

And now a word from the curmudgeon in me: Let’s not lose this and actually get some of the crap from the last eight years fixed. Oh, and universal health care would be nice too.

Speaking of curmudgeons, I have to hand it to McCain. Last night’s concession speech was incredibly gracious and somewhat unexpected. It’s either the dying gasp of moderate Republicanism or a return to sanity for the party. If his campaign’s tone more closely resembled this speech I think things would have been a lot closer and I wouldn’t have minded a McCain presidency so much.

But, yeah, Obamanation!

Compulsively throughout the day I go check this and then I go check this.

And then I try to not get my hopes up….

It’s not working. An election just might go the right way this century.

Come for the lulz, stay for the uncomfortable feeling that perhaps hacking email because you are able to might possibly be worse than using private email accounts for government business. Seriously, though, it takes some kind of stupid to use an email service like Yahoo!/MSN/Gmail for anything other than one-off membership signups. It takes some seriously kind of stupid to conduct government business [allegedly] on one of these account. Sure, the thought of end-running open document and transparency laws has some allure for the politician with something to hide, but security through obscurity never ever pays in the end.

Caveat: It has not been proven beyond a reasonable doubt that Sarah Palin has used private email for public business, but there are some pretty damning allegations that she has. Further, from what I saw, nothing in the b/tards’ dump approaches any kind of smoking gun. Then again, I glanced at this while at work.
