Draft Day Approaches

Leaving for the city of mighty winds and broad shoulders for the 36th[?] annual CFCL baseball draft. It looks to be a hard year for the Beatniks as we are suffering under a penalty for releasing Denver’s most notorious wife beater, Jose Reyes. Still, there is baseball, comraderie, and crepes in my immediate future.

Barbara and I have at least one thing in common.

And that, my friends, is why I am happier as a Beatnik. So from our headquarters in Eukennott, Iowa to your home, wherever that might be: Happy Baseball Season 2016.

ESPN on Sunday

Is it the case that the Yankees and Red Sox play every Sunday night or does ESPN show reruns of past games when they don’t?  Because these two teams are on every time I try to watch Sunday night baseball and frankly wouldn’t mind if the ball field opened up and swallowed both teams into the abyss.

MLB hype generator

I’m getting daily emails from MLB reminding me that I can vote for the MLB All Stars. We’re not even 9% of the way through the season and yet I’m supposed to be voting on the best players? At least let them finish the first month before unleashing the haranguing.

Familiar refrain: I love baseball. I hate MLB. Their hype generator and money grubbing is entirely unpleasant.

CFCL Turns 25

I’m a fantasy baseball addict. I’ve been this way ever since I had to spend a winter alone in a two room apartment in Chicago. I’ve been a member of this league since the 2000 season.

While that might seem like a fair chunk of change, the league itself has been going since 1984. Your’s truly has been tasked with generating a logo worthy of commemorating this event. What does this say about the visual arts talent in the league?? Anyway, here‘s what I’ve been up to all morning.
